AEROSPACE INDUSTRIES ASSOCIATION
Small Disadvantaged Women-Owned Business
Database
Conwal is responsible for providing Aerospace Industries of America (AIA)
with a Small Disadvantaged Women-Owned Business database. AIA references
this database to determine minority and women-owned firms that may have
an interest in providing services to the aerospace member companies. This
project includes requirements analyses, full-service design, and comprehensive
system maintenance.
Initially, the project team prepared a detailed
requirements analysis which entailed an examination of database fields,
records, file sizes, desired outputs, membership software/hardware environments,
desired report functions, and on-line interactive screen outputs needed
by end-users.
Based on the requirements analysis results,
Conwal selected dBase III Plus with a Clipper compiler package, providing
both protected program code to avoid end user alterations and increased
file accessing speed, as well as color modification of menu prompts.
Conwal maintains this database in three ways. First, Conwal provides
data entry for more than 4,300 files utilizing both direct key-in and
automated up-loads from magnetic media. Second, Conwal provides a call-in
service to answer questions for database users as well as small disadvantaged
businesses listed within the database. And finally, Conwal conducted an
annual 100 percent validation of the database on a yearly basis.
