Office Training Center AV Installation
Conwal's support of the
Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) Academy Facility included:
- Analyzing and determining objectives, needs, physical capabilities
and determining desired AV hardware and software requirements;
- Identifying system integrator and vendor;
- Coordinating design analysis, purchase requirement, lead times, academy
scheduling and availability, and contract coordination; and
- Provided personnel (working varied shift schedules coordinated to
eliminate any impact on Academy training sessions) to define required
cable runs, layout, measure, label and install over 4,000 feet of AV
cable and connectors.
Conwal supervised vendor/system
integration personnel in the delivery, verification, installation, and
check-out of all AV equipment. Conwal personnel coordinated throughput
tests and system evaluation, followed up on deficiencies, replacements
and changes, and thoroughly assured end-user satisfaction and usability.
Areas installed included:
- Video transfer and viewing throughout the Academy;
- VCR equipment to present lessons, messages, and tape classes;
- Video projection systems, travel carts, and specialized audio systems
including specialized headsets, directional speakers, and instructor
controlled work stations;
- Classroom PC/video interfaces which are operated from instructor controlled
work stations and allow instructors to choose from among: one/all/many/broadcast/tape/enterprise
wide displays to support teaching objectives.
- Lecture room hookups which can feed into enterprise wide displays,
and which can monitor and share in instructions and presentations presented
elsewhere. This capability includes interactive video and audio, clip
and setup microphones, and overall system podiums preprogrammed for
easy one-button instructor-operated controls.; and
- A central equipment/control system including coded and tagged VCR
equipment, power supplies, central cable confluence, and system power
and performance monitoring equipment.
The system has been installed in two lecture halls, three classrooms,
and the AV equipment room. Future plans call for further installations
in additional classrooms, and in support staff offices.
